Orion Capsule Gets Worst Case Scenario Hydro Impact Drop Test
I don't think I would want to land upside down in the water on my way home from space.
This is the third Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle (MPCV) water landing test conducted at the Hydro Impact Basin at NASA Langley Research Center. This test represented the worst-case scenario for landing. The prediction had a 50-percent chance of the test article getting inverted. The Orion Project Team collects valuable data regarding Crew Module stability. The team also obtained invaluable experience in righting the test article.
